Good Read…Men’s Health Grooming Awards

For men’s magazines, March and September are big issues. It’s usually when you’ll see the most fashion coverage and they distill seasonal trends. Its a must read if you like to be in the know about that sort of stuff. I, however, look forward to the June issue of Men’s Health as it’s when they conduct their annual Grooming Awards.

Each year, Men’s Health consults a panel of grooming and fragrance aficionados to seek out the best products in myriad categories. What you’re left with is an excellent list products worthy of your consideration.

For the past few years, Brian Boye has asked me to contribute to the fragrance category and I look forward to it. Where else are you going to get all of these products in one issue? This year, he sought out my opinion on how much fragrance one should apply, in addition to other topics, and I’m quoted in the issue.

The June issue is on newsstands now. Pick it up. It’s a good one.

Good Read…I’m Proud Of This (Again)

I had the pleasure of working on the Men’s Health Grooming Awards again this year. I’m humbled by the opportunity and I’m thankful to Brian Boye for making it possible.

Here’s my feeling on a few of the featured scents:
Voyage d’Hermes – Sophisticated…powdery, peppery, sweet, musky. It’s even better on the skin. Add it to your summer collection.

Azzaro Chrome Sport – I don’t usually like “sport” scents but this is not your typical sporty scent. For me, it’s a great no-brainer choice for running around on the weekend. A definite head turner at the farmer’s market.

Tom Ford Grey Vetiver – Fresh and thorny…the pepper notes give this clean scent depth.

Good Read…I’m Proud Of This One

A funny thing occurred a few months ago. I was corresponding with the Fashion and Grooming Editor of Men’s Health, Brian Boye, when he asked if I’d like to be a judge for their annual Grooming Awards. Let me just say, I was humbled. The joy of receiving bottles of cologne didn’t actually hit me until I received the box. That he would seek my opinion left me speechless. Needless to say, I said yes and was overjoyed to be contributing. I truly like the magazine as it’s always chocked full of interesting tidbits. I also like Brian. He’s a good man and my fragrance exchanges with him actually inspired me to start Fragrant Moments.

Anyhow, pick it up, its on newsstands now. Loads of great products and fragrances as well. There is a beautifully shot story about barbershops that preceeds the Grooming Awards piece that makes me want to experience a straight edged shave.

Thanks for the experience Brian.

The Fashion and Grooming director of Men’s Health, Brian Boye, gave me a shout out on their blog. I’m touched by this because I really respect Brian’s editorial perspective. MH, in my opinion, does a great job of balancing trends and making them applicable to everyday guys. That’s pretty much what I’m trying to do here…give you guys a perspective on interesting finds that can help you standout. Anyhow, check out the mention “Looking Good — Smelling Better”
