Scent Library by Ineke

A couple of years ago, while in a frenzy to find a Christmas gift for my girlfriend (she eventually became my wife), I ran into Fresh and discovered their Fragrance Chronicles. It housed their collection of fragrances in Eau de Parfum strength and without hesitating I bought one. That turned out to be an excellent purchase as my wife is still using it to this day. Unfortunately Fresh discontinued it but one of my favorite fragrance brands, Ineke, is launching something similar and you should take notice.

Floral Curiosities is a limited edition collection of five fragrances that explores rare botanicals Ineke Ruhland grows in her very own garden in San Francisco. This Scent Library collection is packaged a faux book and in true Ineke fashion, is beautifully designed and thoughtfully merchandised. Library cards are attributed to each scent and they provide an explanation about its contents, while fine art and calligraphy continue the old library book theme.

Field Notes From Paris continues to be my favorite scent from this brand but Ineke continues to impress and Floral Curiosities is no different. When the collection was available at Anthropologie, I introduced a friend to the brand when he was looking for a gift for his girlfriend (she eventually became his wife) and he ended up succumbing to the power of her juice.

Gents, we have a tendency to wait until the last minute to buy gifts for any occasion. Ineke’s Scent Library houses five, 2.5 ml Eau de Parfum scents and is only $22. It’s an unbelievable value and a thoughtful gift. Get it while you can.

The Procrastinators Holiday Gift Guide

It’s the weekend before Christmas and somehow there’s still some shopping left to do. You probably dismissed things like this, figuring you had it all covered and here you are. Procrastination runs deep through your veins and now you have no choice but to get in line. As awful as that sounds, the look on his face when you present him with any of these will, as usual, make it all worthwhile. For my fellow NYC procrastinators…

Kiehl’s x Kenny Scharf Holiday Collaboration

By now I’m sure you’ve noticed the change that has occurred at retail. It went from summer to Christmas and every year it seems like it’s happening earlier. Well, no matter how you feel about that, your favorite apothecary Kiehl’s has a holiday promotion you should pay attention too.

Kiehl’s has tapped New York Pop artist, Kenny Scharf to redesign the packaging on its popular Crème de Corps collection. This promotion is part of their annual holiday tradition with philanthropic ties. 100% of the worldwide net profits or up to $200,000 will be donated to children’s charities. According to a press release in support of this promotion, “In the U.S., proceeds will support RXart a non-profit national organization, committed to fostering artistic expression and awareness through the challenging, yet rewarding task of engaging young patients through contemporary art in pediatric hospitals. RxArt is dedicated to placing original fine art in patient, procedure and examination rooms of healthcare facilities, for the engagement and comfort of patients.”

I was recently asked by Diane Da Costa to put together of list of must have items for a Christmas gifting guide for Uptown Magazine’s website. Thank you Diane. That was sweet of you. Check it out if you’re still trying to figure out what to get in the remaining days before Christmas.
