Good Read…

With the Kardashian clan releasing yet another fragrance, the topic of celebrity fumes has been in the news lately. For the record, I’m not a fan of celebrities expanding into perfume; although they are cash cows, so what do I know. I, however, feel like the back-stories are weak. But I’ve got to give it to Kate Walsh and the release of her scent, Boyfriend. She appeared on the Rachel Ray a few weeks ago and it happened to be on in the background when she was discussing its launch and her story stopped me dead in my tracks. It was genuine and original. Check her out on the show here…she starts talking about the fragrance around 3:10. One of my perfumista homies, Ashleigh also conducted an interview with her. Check it out here. On the other side of the spectrum, but still taking cues from the celebrity craze, Joel Stein created his own scent and wrote about it in Time. It’s pretty funny.

Did you know that the colors for fragrance packaging are almost always chosen first? I am a geek for that sort of stuff and found that realization fascinating. This piece on Ann Gottlieb and her nose is really interesting. I learned she wears her fragrances on her temples. Read the rest of the story for more gems.

This last piece isn’t about fragrances but I had to through it in. Who doesn’t love Scott Schuman and the Sartorialist? I love peaking at his blog every now and then. And I’m always in awe of the people he captures. They each communicate so much through details. I came across a great story about Scott and his girlfriend, Garance Doré, who also happens to be a fashion blogger. It’s a cute story about them and I just love that she’s wearing the hat.

Enjoy.

  1. I heard about kate walsh’s fragrance and was intrigued. def didn’t lump it in w/ all the other celeb fragrance lines. I love the premise and will definitely look for it in sephora. Need a sniff in person.
