Ask any American man what his fragrance preferences are and most will say I like fresh, clean scents. If that sounds like you, then this is something to look forward to.
Jo Malone, the global luxury brand that opened its doors in London in 1994, is set to launch a collection of limited edition fragrances called The Tea Fragrance Blends. Hitting stores in March of 2011, its inspiration comes from the British tea tradition. According to supporting press materials, Master Perfumer, Christine Nagel, said “I was inspired by the aromas of tea leaves steeped in hot water, so the challenge with this collection was to take the intense character of each tea and create wearable colognes, in keeping with Jo Malone’s olfactory signature.”
The collection is composed of five scents:
Assam & Grapefruit Cologne – grapefruit and herbaceous Assam, warm patchouli, spicy cardamom and almond
Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne – bergamot, cucumber, beeswax, vanilla and musk
Fresh Mint Leaf Cologne – mint, basil, maté, cedarwood and musk
Sweet Lemon Cologne – sweet lemon, pineapple, peach, and fresh green cypress
Sweet Milk Cologne – a milk accord combining star anise, almond, and vanilla
The Tea Fragrance Blends – $55 US for each 30ml bottle
I adore tea fragrances. To me, they are “useful” perfumes, more along them lines of aromatherapy in a way. I spritz on CBIHP Russian Caravan Tea or R&G Green Tea when I’m irritable and/or anxious and they work a treat.
I’m sure one could have a lot of fun experiementing with layering, and these will be great on hot summer days when every fragrance just seems too heavy.
There are only two here I would be willing to sample; the Assam & Grapefruit and Sweet Lemon colognes. I don’t care for cucumber or mint in fragrances, and the sweet milk sounds nauseating to me (not a fan of lactonic nutty scents). I love milky tea, but I don’t want to smell like it.
Joan, I’m with you in terms of these being great scents for the hot days of summer. Those are the days you really need something but you really don’t want anything laying on your skin. I can’t wait to see how they hold up to the heat.

The Earl Grey & Cucumber is for me! Two of my favorite scents. Will be checking JM in March for that!
Ainsley, if you do get to testing any of these scents, I would be very interested in hearing your feelings.
These scents sound delicious. And like they would actually work perfect for both sexes.
