The Scent of Peace

Every now and then life forces you to take a step back. From the economy, to the presidential race, to personal issues, it forced me to ask myself, “what the F#&k is going on?” I really needed a break this weekend and with the weather being so gloomy, it was the perfect time to simply relax.

The photo above was taken this summer in Bermuda at Horseshoe Beach. It is the most beautiful beach I have ever been to in my life. I reflected on the serenity I felt while sitting there taking in the sun, the smell of the ocean, the calm in the air, the ability to clear my thoughts and wished I could just take that 2hr flight to escape the madness we’re experiencing at this moment in history. Since I couldn’t get there, I did the next best thing that came to mind…Enter Carol’s Daughter Ocean Sea Salt Scrub.

I have never been a big exfoliater. I’ve bought them from time to time because I fell victim to an impulse buy but I could never get into a regular routine of using them. However, as of late, I’ve found myself using them to relieve stress. Whether it was striping away the sweaty build up of training for a marathon in the summer or escaping the thoughts of our collective economic woes, they have become my new best friend. What I like about Carol’s Daughter Sea Salt Scrub is its fresh ocean fragrance. In addition to its benefits for the skin, that smell instantly takes me back to the sand between my toes, the crashing waves against the shore and the caressing breeze that sometimes sends a chill up your spine. This scrub was exactly what I needed this weekend.

For a few moments I was at Horseshoe Beach and it only cost me $28.00. It’s a modest luxury for these lean times.

  1. It’s all about modest luxury.
I actually bought myself a large popcorn at the movies this weekend.
But seriously, big up to Carol’s Daughter. They have great stuff

  2. Not only am I huge exfoliator but I am a Carol’s Daughter fan even though some of their products can be on the oily/greasy side. My favorite scent of theirs is Almond Cookie-absolutely wonderful!!
