Razor Shield by HYD For Men

Razor Shield by Hyd for Men

If you search the Internet for an answer to the question, how often should I change my razor blades, a myriad of responses will turn up but most recommend changing them every 5-7 days. If you fall into that category, you’re going through a considerable amount of blades per year. Scratch that! I recently put Razor Shield by HYD For Men to the test and my double-edged blade lasted me 25 days. Impressed? Keep reading.

Whether you shave daily or every other day you finish your shave by washing off your blade and lay it on the sink or hang it in a holder to dry. The excess water, which is still there, and the condensation build up present in the bathroom team up and begin dulling your blade by corroding it. To combat this, Razor Shield, which is a proprietary solution you apply to your razor blade after every use, creates a barrier around the blade to protect it. As simple as that may seem, I was honestly astonished how long my blade lasted.

While I bought my blades in bulk prior to using Razor Shield, this will make them last even longer, which will add up in my favor for once, and I couldn’t be more satisfied. I think you will be too after trying Razor Shield.

Good Read…Your Top 10 Grooming Fails

We all have some sort of grooming routine. Brush teeth, shower, shave, moisturize, apply sunscreen, spray cologne, repeat daily. Sound familiar? Whatever habits you have, there’s a good chance you either get lazy some days and skip certain things or you’re just doing something wrong. I mean, who can remember everything? Continue reading

Ursa Major’s Fortifying Face Balm

Growing up the son of working class parents, I remember having occasion items. When Easter rolled around, it was time to get a suit because, if my mother had anything to do with it, we were surely going to church . When we came home from school, the first thing we had to do was change out of our school clothes. I even had a trench coat for church and funerals. This was a function of economics with a dash of reverence.

As I look back and smile about those days, I couldn’t help thinking about that the first time I tried Ursa Major’s Fortifying Face Balm. The ease at which it applied to my face and was absorbed by my skin, it didn’t even feel like it was there. it felt to good for everyday use but as I continued using it, even on days when I wasn’t shaving, I knew I found just what I needed for the summer. Something light, bright and just right.

The heat of the summer can surely make you not want to put anything on your skin, and that’s the worst thing you can do for yourself. What you want to do is shift from heavier moisturizers and creams to ones that are lightweight. Ursa Major’s Fortifying Face Balm is just that. Your skin will also absorb it quickly, hence the feeling that it’s not there. With high concentrations of aloe, myrtle, witch hazel, willow bark, kendi nut, carrot seed and birch sap, it has served me well thus far this summer.

100% natural and 82% organic, 2.5 oz size retails for $36. You can find it at Ursa Major Men and select retailers.

A sample of Ursa Major’s Fortifying Face Balm was sent to me but my views are all my own.

As a young man, my father always told me never put a straight razor on my face. He said it would make the hair grow back faster and thicker. Myth or not, I never did put one on my face until my first professional shave at Martial Vivot. It was the closest shave I ever experienced. Continue reading

Good Read – Scented Razors…Money & Sex

If you’ve been somewhat paying attention to the news, perhaps you noticed an uptick in the number of articles discussing men paying even more attention to grooming and their overall appearance. Whether the economic downturn caused them to want to set themselves apart from their colleagues to avoid pink slips or this is a trend, marketers are catching on and paying attention; big time.

It’s not enough that shaving products are scented, now there’s scented razors. You didn’t know? Read about it here. I’m not the straight razor type but a fragrant moment is always welcomed.

Check out another good article I came across about more men getting makeovers.

All in all, more men paying attention to their appearance is ok by me. I, however, refuse to accept the metrosexual moniker. But hey, that’s just me. Enjoy the articles.

Face time with Lierac Homme’s Nettoyant Purifant

Now that Memorial Day is behind us, warmer days are ahead. It also means we’ll be outdoors longer enjoying the great weather. That extra perspiration and exposure to the grime of air pollutants will wreak havoc on our skin. For one, the extra oil that our skin releases can clog our pores. Combine that with a day’s worth of dirt build-up and it means we’d be foolish to not be more diligent about taking care of our face. Continue reading

An Unforgettable Experience at Martial Vivot compliments of Caron Paris

As a young man growing up, I longed for the day I could be like my dad and shave. He did it. He was (and still is) my hero. And it would mean I’m a man too. But before I even had peach fuzz, dad told me, “never put a razor on our face.” His reasoning, the hair would grow back quicker and thicker. That said, for years I avoided straight shaves. Instead, I would use an Andis Outliner II, which my barbers used to line me up and would finish me off by giving me a shave with it as well. And years later, I started using an electric shaver dad gave me, a Remington MicroScreen 2 for a closer finish. Both do the trick just fine. That is until my wife kept saying, “babe you missed a few hairs” and “I wish you’d get rid of that thing (the Remington) and get something else. In my head I always reply, “This baby works just fine.” But when an opportunity to experience my first straight shave came my way, care of Caron Paris, I decided to give it a try. Continue reading
