I was recently asked to participate in a fun assignment for Lifestyle Mirror. They wanted me to suggest a scent based on what the weather would be for a particular day. I thought to myself, “I love this one.” The twist though, the site caters to women. Could I pull it off? Whenever I walk into a store, I’m all about finding the men’s section and seeing what’s being offered to us. Nevertheless, what I ended up suggesting was a new scent by Atelier Cologne called Rose Anonyme. It is simply fantastic and the best part, it can be worn by either men or women. Continue reading →

Good Read…Antenna Magazine Winter Issue

A few months back, the Editor-In-Chief of Antenna magazine contacted me about writing a piece on scent. We talked about this a few years back but the stars finally aligned. Part of that delay was my own. I really like Antenna’s editorial point-of-view and wanted to be sure I was ready with my own. When that email finally made its way into my inbox, I was ready.

To me, scent is a detail more men should pay attention to. We make conscious choices about the clothes we wear, how we style our hair, yet for some, when it comes to scent, we couldn’t be bothered. Well, this piece in Antenna is my attempt to reverse this thinking. I hope you enjoy it and if you do, let them know.

Travel Essentials

I recently took a trip to the beautiful island of St. Thomas for a conference. In preparing for the journey, I decided I didn’t want to check my luggage and that presented all sorts of challenges. There’s the thoughts of what to wear when complicated temperature difference. And then there’s the cosmetic issue. For some guys, that’s the least of their problems. But when you like to smell good, you appreciate companies that can accommodate the TSA’s travel restrictions. On this particular trip, I took with me Atelier Cologne’s Bois Blonds and Aroma M’s Geisha Green. Both served me well. They have lasting power, and are quite versatile. Continue reading →

Good Read…Props Due

It’s May already and I don’t even know where April went. I was thumbing through some of my piled up mail the other day and came across the April issue of Details magazine. I don’t even know if I missed it or if it just came. (The beginning stages of a new subscription can be a little tricky.) What I do know is it features on all-star lineup of men’s fragrances. I was particularly happy to see Atelier Cologne in there. I posted about its Oolang Infini earlier this year and I’ve heard nothing but praise for Vanilla Insensee, which Details chose to feature. All of the other fragrances are worthy of your consideration.

But wait, it gets better. A few pages later, they bless readers with a nice selection of “guy appropriate” candles. I can’t remember ever seeing a men’s magazine this stocked with scent related stuff. Well done Details.

Pack Light This Valentine’s Day

For Valentine’s Day, aside from the pressure to show your love, the idea is to be close, very close. Don’t do the usual thing and apply something spicy right before you head out. As Erykah Badu said, “pack light.” Spritz on Atelier Cologne Oolang Infini. Its bergamot and Tunisian Neroli top notes are so fresh and clean, it’ll make her think you took an extra shower just for her. Now, she’s going to love you no matter what. But just in case you didn’t catch the hints on what to get her, by the time this scent really kicks in, its warmth will make up for your less than satisfactory romantic skills.
